1812: War and the Passions of Patriotism by Nicole Eustace This cultural history of the War of 1812 tells the story of how an expensive and unproductive military campaign captured the heart and imagination of a young nation. The author explores how the war that inspired the creation of “The Star-Spangled Banner” laid the groundwork for our country’s intense patriotism. Jennifer Dorsey, a professor of history at Siena College, reviews the book. Location: Main Library Large Auditorium | |
